Why a Coordination Centre?

The Better Together Coordination Centre ( Link opens in new windowPricewaterhouseCoopers) is a dedicated resource to help NHSScotland develop and run the Scottish Patient Experience Programme.

What will the Coordination Centre do?

It will manage the collection and distribution of patient experience information to NHSScotland and in particular NHS Boards and General Practices.

It will encourage and empower patients, carers and healthcare staff in Scotland to use this information as catalysts to work together in partnership to provide patient-centred care and to improve NHS services for the benefit of all.

What will happen each year?

NHS Boards will collect information about patients' experiences and the Coordination Centre will provide support in this process and with the analysis of the results. NHS Boards will undertake the fieldwork to collect information. The NHS Boards will own all data generated through this work and will develop local improvement plans where needed.

What will NHS Boards collect?

NHS Boards will collect information about their patients' experiences using surveys and will also use other methods of data collection, such as focus groups, to explore particular issues and to ensure participation in the programme by equality groups.
