What we are doing
Researchers from
Patient Perspective have been contracted by the Scottish Government to collect detailed information about:
- How patient experience information is collected and used
This work is nearing completion and includes a range of interviews with staff at every NHS Board in Scotland.
- What is important to patients about the services they receive
This work includes a range of focus groups throughout Scotland with people who use NHS services. Some groups have been with people from different parts of Scotland and some from equality groups such as those for people with disabilities. This work is nearing completion. It also includes a survey of recent patients from across Scotland. The survey will be undertaken shortly.
In addition to this work, the
Centre for Research on Familes and Relationships (CRFR) is in the process of undertaking research into what is important to children and young people.
All this work will help determine what the programme will focus on asking people in the main surveys e.g. inpatients which will run each year. These surveys will check whether people are receiving the aspects of care they think are important.
The Building on Experience working group is acting as a research advisory group for Patient Perspective and CRFR as they undertake their work. The sub-group is made up of a range of people from NHS Boards, other organisations and members of the public.
