NHS Boards and Approved Contractors should note that the final sample for the inpatient survey roll out is now available to download, as well as new supplementary guidance on coding open text questions and equality questions, and instructions on how NHS Boards should send their sample check to the Better Together Coordination Centre. NHS Boards and Contractors should note that the period over which to draw the sample is the beginning of October 2008 until the end of September 2009.

Approved Contractors should be aware that PALS (England's Patient Advice and Liaison Services) does not operate in Scotland. If Approved Contractors or their Helpline would normally refer survey respondents to PALS following contact please refer them to IAAS. Each NHS Board in Scotland has an arrangement with Citizens Advice Bureau Scotland to provide local IAAS services. Local citizens advice bureaus can be found in the phonebook under Citizens Advice Bureau, or on the CAS website, www.cas.org.uk

The Better Together GP Survey will go live in November 2009. The GP survey fieldwork will be undertaken by the Picker Institute Europe. To keep GP's and NHS Board informed of progress the survey materials are available to download below for information purposes only.

The survey pack has not been ethically approved as it was deemed to be audit by the South East Scotland Ethics Committee. However approval for the project has been gained from the CHI Advisory Group (see letters in Appendix H of the guidance manual).
